Field Capture

Overview

Field Capture is the documentation engine for the job site. Every photo, video clip, voice note, and customer signature goes directly into the job record — no manual transfer, no emailing yourself photos, no lost documentation. When a dispute arises or a customer wants to see the work, everything is already there.

The before/after mode is designed for the most common contractor use case: document the problem, document the fix. Two taps to switch modes; photos are automatically labeled and grouped.

Features

  • Photo Capture — Full-resolution photos attached directly to the current job; multiple photos per job supported
  • Before/After Mode — Toggle between Before and After labels; photos are displayed in side-by-side comparison in the job record
  • Video Capture — Short video clips (up to 2 minutes) for complex work walkthroughs; compressed for efficient upload
  • Voice-to-Text Notes — Speak job notes hands-free; transcribed automatically and saved as a text note attached to the job
  • Signature Capture — Touchscreen signature pad for customer sign-off on job completion; saved as a timestamped PDF
  • Auto-Attachment — All captures are immediately linked to the open job record; no manual association required
  • Offline Queue — Captures taken without connectivity are stored locally and uploaded automatically when back online
  • Customer Sharing — Admins can share specific photos with the customer via a link in the customer portal

Notes

Photos and videos are stored in Merchant Protocol's cloud storage (S3-compatible) and are not stored in the app beyond the upload queue. Camera and microphone permissions are required and prompted on first use. Signatures are legally timestamped — once captured, they cannot be modified or deleted; only Admin-level accounts can see a deletion log. Video capture requires iOS 17+ for best performance.
